People Let Me Tell You 'Bout My Best Friend!

I wish I was tech savvy enough to put that theme song from The Courtship of Eddie's Father on my blog. You will have to use your imagination...

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.
People let me tell you bout my best friend,
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

This post is dedicated to Leah's best friend-- her pacifier. We call it by many different names: Paci, Nuk, Binky, Pootie (my fave), Plug, etc. Leah would be very upset if it were lost. She uses it ALL the time, and I am not sure what we would do without it.

Life Story of the Pootie

After being manufactured by the talented people at the NUK factory, Pootie was kinda dissappointed he didn't get to be a cool color like the other pacifiers. Little did he know that the little girl he would belong to would like him just the way he was, plain old white! He traveled to the medical supply peeps who sold him off to a hospital in Houston, Memorial City Memorial Hermann. After hanging out in a closet for awhile, he was sterilized (hopefully) and given to a brand new, perfect, yet fussy baby named Leah. And the rest is history...

She will take other pacifiers, but they are just acquaintances. Her eyes roll back in her head when her BFF, Pootie, saves the day. I have tried to find another "Pootie" just in case, but she can tell the difference. She gets this look on her face when we put it in like, "This tastes weird. What are you trying to pull???"

So, I hope Pootie can last longer than the average Nuk. He certainly is loved.

Enjoy this video... (Don't mind The Office being on in the background, but do listen to those sucking noises!!)

Happy Two Months, Leah!

Today, my precious Lil' Peanut (notice the onesie!) turns two months old! Time has sure flown, but one thing is for sure-- we love her to pieces!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday for her two month check-up. Leah has grown 2 1/4 inches and has gained 2 pounds in the last month! She is 24 1/2 inches long and weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. She is growing before our eyes. The doctor says she is off the charts for length, which doesn't surprise us too much considering her Daddy and G are so tall. She is quickly growing too long for her 3 month clothes!
While we were at the doctor, Leah also got 2 shots, one in each leg. She was very angry when she got poked, but settled down very fast in Mommy's arms. She was asleep in minutes! Mommy and Daddy had to get a shot, too. We got the DPT so that Leah would be extra safe from whooping cough. The shot didn't hurt, but we both sure felt it the next day! Anything for our baby!

Daddy played with Leah while we were waiting for Dr. Cohen

An unsuspecting baby :(

Dum dudum dum...

Here is her 1 month picture and today's 2 month picture to compare.

A Day in the Life of Leah

A typical day for Leah is filled with eating, sleeping, pooping, crying and playing. Let's see some pictures of her adventures!

First thing in the morning when Leah wakes up she wants some milk. Then, she usually takes a little nap in her bouncer while Mommy gets ready for the day. This picture is especially cute, because she is showing some genuine love for Sally the Seahorse. I love it so much that it is my desktop background! They are sweet friends. When Leah wakes up, we get her dressed for the day. After getting dressed, she usually wants more milk and then we play! "Playing" also involves either tummy time or sitting in her Bumbo. She is not too fond of either one, although she prefers to sit in the Bumbo. Nana or Mimi usually comes over and holds Leah while Mommy gets stuff done around the house, takes a nap, or runs errands around the neighborhood. If we are really lucky, Daddy gets to take a break from work and comes home to play! The afternoon is a great time for a nap! When Leah wakes up, Daddy is usually getting home from work. Time to play with Daddy!! When the sun goes down a little and the weather is nice, all three of us either sit out on the driveway or we go on a stroll around the block. This is one of Mommy's favorite parts of the day, spending time with her two favorite people! Sometimes, Leah will take a little nap, but she always seems to be awake just in time for dinner to be ready! :) After dinner, we play some more. When Leah starts to get tired, we stop everything and have bath time! Leah hated baths at first, but she is starting to like the warm water and the clean fresh feeling that comes afterwards. After bath time is Daddy's favorite time of day-- Pajama Time! To end Leah's day, we read her a book and rock her to sleep. Good night, Leah!

So many people love Leah (cont.)

Leah has met a lot of new family members in the past few weeks.

A few Sundays ago, Justin's Nana came over to meet Leah. We had some amazing chocolate cake that Lori (Mimi) made, and had a good time chatting and showing Leah off to her great grandmother.

Two Fridays ago, we had quite a crowd at our house. Justin's Granny and Granddad came in from the Dallas area, and his Uncle Ted and Aunt Susan came in from Nigeria. His cousins, Lara and Katherine, got to come too! And so did Mimi, G, Aunt Amanda, and (Uncle) Rodney. Leah was very tired, and wasn't too happy, but she got passed around as best as we could manage. We always love seeing everyone and sharing funny stories. Ted's stories are always enough to make you laugh until you cry.

The next day, Granny and Granddad came back and got to visit Leah a little longer. She was in a much better mood, and she loved seeing them so much she gave a big toothless grin! Oh, so cute!

ROAD TRIP!!!!

On Thursday, my mom and I took Leah on a road trip to Nacogdoches to meet my Meemaw and Pawpaw. It was a 2 1/2 hour trip up there and she barely made a peep. She slept the whole way! I guess she gets that from me. I can sure sleep in the car!
My Pawpaw has been in and out of the hospital and we wanted to take her when he was out! We visited with Meemaw and Pawpaw, and also my Uncle Bubba, Aunt Susan, and my cousin, Kristen. We missed seeing my other cousin Kaylyn, who is in College Station. Leah did well at her first restaurant too. Luckily it was not crowded and it was casual, just in case she decided to cry, which she didn't!
It took us a little more like 3 hours to get home, because it was raining cats and dogs! Leah slept the whole way again. And I know what you're thinking, that she wouldn't sleep at night, but she slept from 8:45-2:00 and then 2:30-6:00. What a snoozer! :)

This past weekend, "Uncle" Dave and "Aunt" Sara came to stay with us. Here they are with Leah!

On Sunday, Ted and Susan came back over to a much happier Leah. Paul and Mary also were in town for Paul's business and got to meet her. She enjoyed showing off her nursery!
